UPDATE: HBO’s ‘Looking’ Wraps in SF – Debut Slated for January
According to a tweet from the San Francisco Film Commission first caught by our pals over at Haighteration the new HBO queer boy comedy, Looking, being shot throughout the Castro and City since September, has wrapped its first season of filming.
We’ve tracked the step by step saga of the new production since news first broke in March that the series had received the green light and HBO had ordered eight more episodes to go with the pilot that had already been produced and was in the can. Looking is the first episodic television show to be filmed entirely on location in SF since the long canceled, Don Johnson helmed, Nash Bridges.
The show, for those who might be out of the loop, revolves around three friends in San Francisco who explore the fun and sometimes overwhelming options available to a new generation of gay men.
The new series stars Glee alum and featured in OUT mags recently released 2013 OUT 100 list, Jonathan Groff, Smash cast member and Broadway actor, Frankie J. Alvarez and Ozzie Guiding Light soap star, Murray Bartlett. Also included in the cast is out UK actor, Russell Tovey, the cute werewolf from the popular show, Being Human who spent a lot of time at the Castro branch of SF Fitness keeping in shape during filming.
The show is set to debut January 19th at 10:30 PM following the third season premier of the wildly popular series, Girls. Here’s wishing all involved a great success.
