According to a fictitious business name statement filed back in September, a furniture consignment shop will be taking the place of the long-vacant Mark Harrington Glassware at 286 Sanchez Street. The name of the business will be Mobile Home: Furniture Consignment. Interesting name. I wonder what the “Mobile Home” angle will be?

As we’ve previously reported, the shops future location is currently undergoing renovations so we don’t have a timeline for when they will open. The registrant, Brian Allen, is listed as living in San Francisco, but there was no phone number available for Mr. Allen so details are thin for now.

We’ll keep you in the loop when we hear more, but for now, it’s nice to see the location won’t stay vacant for long!

Interesting name. In German “Möbel” means furniture. I wonder if it’s supposed to be a play on that.

I’m going to miss Mr. Harrington every time I chip a piece of glassware. Had the chance to talk with him last year when he finished repairing an antique plate (it only took 18 months, start to finish — Mr. H. truly worked on his own timetable) and he’s been repairing glass and china since he came to the United States — in 1932. Yes, he was a small boy at the time, but still… pretty impressive.
