Car vs Bike hit and run at Octavia and Market

We just received a report from the SFPD that a car struck a bicyclist that was crossing Market near Octavia at 3:38PM this afternoon and then fled the scene westbound on Market towards the Castro. The bicyclist was traveling from north to south. The bicyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

If you were in the area and witnessed the incident contact the SFPD at (415) 553-0123.

If you’re curious about what organizations in the city are trying to do about pedestrian and bicyclist safety checkout Vision Zero, a plan to lower pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities from traffic collisions to zero by 2023. Vision Zero is supported by Walk San Francisco and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.
