Réveille readies coffee shop

It looks like Reveille Coffee on 18th Street (4076 18th St) is just about ready to open (I can hear the fingers of readers typing jokes about another coffee shop opening in the Castro as I write this). A rope has cordoned off access to the patio and main entrance, but paper is off the windows and staff can be seen inside training. From what I could see the back wall features an installation of thick tree cross sections and an open spacious interior. The coffee bar is located to the right of the space with the kitchen directly beyond it.

A passerby noticed how sunny it was on the Reveille patio in the morning and wished that Philz across the street were too.

Perhaps a Sunday or Monday opening coming?

Coffee shops are the new bars; they are where people gather and socialize.

Any place but Starbucks is fine with me. Especially after that horrible remodel. What a fuck you to the community from Starbucks, “Look we put an airport Starbucks into your historical neighborhood” “You fags enjoy.”

May the best coffee and environment win. For my money nothing beat Spikes or Castro Tarts and I’m loving the patio at Reveille.

As much as I find the addition of yet another coffee shop in the Castro a big huge yawn. I have to admit it looks like a really nice place. I think they will do well, especially considering the amount of outdoor space they have. Starbuck’s sucks anyway, they deserve a run for their money

Finally, someone that gets what the free-market will do. If the Reveille shop provides a better product and environment than the Bearbuck’s (Starbuck’s on 18th), then you might just see a Starbuck’s close.

I went to Philz once. They won’t let you put your own milk or sugar in your own coffee. Not even if you ask nicely.
I like doctoring up my own coffee. It’s all part of the ritual.

Love it!! hope its a starbucks killer! have to say those slabs of wood outside this store are AWESOME!! coolest thing on 18th in a long time…. however, the white metal stools are the ugliest things on 18th since the new starbcks remodel was unveiled.
