While I think the other groups are fantastic and deserve to win just as much, I will admit I’m biased. So go vote! and vote the the GLBT National Help Center, providing phone and online support services nation wide, but locally based.

Hi: Tommi and I are working on passing the last legislation that Harvey Milk worked on in his life. He was murdered 2 days before his Anti-Speculator Tax was to be introduced. We launched the campaign at the Harvey Milk March last November and will be going to the ballot this November to finally finish what Harvey started. I would love your vote for Tommi and I as Grand Marshal at the Pride Parade this year to help raise visibility for this once in a lifetime opportunity to substantially impact speculator evictions in San Francisco.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 5 Thumb down 7

Community Grand Marshal: I recommend Guy the Flower Man, on Noe @15th.

Why? Because Guy has been selling flowers at that location for a very long time, and in doing so he has seen the changes that the Castro has experienced; epidemic, people who grew up in the neighborhood moving out; new people moving in; a changing of the overall composition of the neighborhood; several supervisors; children growing up and now even grandchildren who have called the Castro home. He has experienced hate, but he can speak to the goodness of friends and strangers who have rallied to his side when he was the target of racial hatred, and when he needed TLC.
Whether you’re buying flowers or want to pass the time and slow your day down a bit, he’s always a patient ear.
He’s accessible to hundreds of people who walk thru the area, and if you stop to chat, he has decades of Castro stories to share.
