If you are newly dealing with HIV, want more info on living healthy, and/or are looking for support, this is the place for you.
Our next PLUS weekend will be February 1st and 2nd.
Contact the Positive Force team to reserve your spot.
Most guys come to PLUS looking for info. We invite experts to present on a range of topics about living healthy with HIV. Sessions typically include HIV Treatment, HIV Life Cycle, Mental Health, Nutrition, Self-Advocacy, and Sexually Transmitted Infections, among others. Participants also learn from each other’s experiences.
While most come for info, they leave a weekend at which they felt totally supported. Four times during the weekend, the educational sessions break into small groups that offer participants an opportunity to give and get support. Facilitated by guys who have been through PLUS in the past, the small support sessions provide a space of unconditional acceptance, arguably the most important part of PLUS.
For two decades, the Positive Living for Us Seminar (PLUS) has been a key component of the HIV services landscape in San Francisco. PLUS combines support and info into one inspiring weekend for gay, bisexual, and transgender men who are new to dealing with HIV, whether newly diagnosed or addressing HIV in a new way, and their allies.
One PLUS participant had this to say about the seminar:
“I just wanted to send you a thank-you for a great weekend. As I said at the closing circle, I got exactly what I was looking for:
- Education about the virus and treatment options
- Opportunities to get my personal questions answered, from experts and veterans
- Networking with others
This was a very impactful weekend, and the timing could not have been better for someone like me as a recently diagnosed person. I really was impressed with all the organizers’ passion and commitment to helping the community.”Positive Force's PLUS Seminar (Positive Living for US), a Project of STOP AIDS Project and SFAF
